Carantiel was one of the original eleven elven players on the team Ears R Us. As a linewoman, her job was to take the punches on the line of scirmage, and she did so for longer than most. Being beaten on by ogres, minotaurs and mummies, she racked up injuries. Her coach figured that it wasn't anything that prevented her from doing her duties, so she was kept on the team. This eventually turned her into the first active elven player to have an agility and movement comparable to that of a troll.
After a while a bookie took notice, and there was a fairly big betting pool regarding the number of games she would last before either getting fired or killed. It turned out to be 38, which was funny as that was the exact number that her coach had gambled a fairly substantial sum of money on. Even funnier as she did quite well that last game.
Carantiel now began to ponder upon what to do with the rest of her long life and meditated a lot on the role of the lineman. Then she founded the small tournament called The Linemans Ball.
Rules: This is a resurrection tournament, so there will be no spp, lasting injuries or missed games. The teams have 1000k to spend on buying their teams. CRP (LRB6) rules will be applied, so the human catchers cost 70k etc.
The coach will add a normal skill on two linemen+ and also select one of these options:
a) A normal skill on any player.
b) A double on a third lineman+.
Lineman+ means linemen plus positionals that cost the same or less. The team has to have at least two linemen+ on the roster.
If a team is unpainted, then the opponent will receive 1-2 FAME depending on how hard it is to seperate the positionals. We prefer painted teams and it may be possible to borrow such teams.
Star players wouldn't be caught dead (or undead) playing in this lousy tournament, but the teams may purchase bribes, chef, cheerleaders, wandering apothecary, igor or even wizards as long as they can afford them. As per usual, you must be able to field at least 11 players.
To clarify, this would be a perfectly legal orc team, picking option a)
110 Troll
320 4 Black Orcs
320 4 Blitzers
70 Thrower (with Leader)
120 3 Goblins (one with Catch, one with Side Step)
60 1 reroll
and this would be an illegal goblin roster...
220 2 Troll
70 Pogoer (with Sure Feet)
70 Fanatic (with Mighty Blow)
360 9 goblins (one with Sneaky Git)
100 2 bribes
180 3rerolls
... as neither the pogoer nor the fanatic are linemen+, they can't both have a skill.
